FCS Joins the Conference Spelling Bee on February 27, 2025
We are excited to announce that Faith Christian School will be participating in the inaugural Conference Spelling Bee on Thursday, February 27, 2025. This event brings together several area parochial schools and will take place at Mt. Zion Christian School.
Spelling Bee Categories & Participants
FCS will be sending up to four students per category to compete in the following divisions:
- Level 1: 3rd-4th graders
- Level 2: 5th-6th graders
- Level 3: 7th-8th graders
Participants will be using a designated spelling list that differs from our in-house Spelling Bee to ensure consistency across all schools. Teachers have distributed these lists to students this week.Event Schedule – February 27, 2025
8:15 AM – Check-in & Workers’ Orientation Meeting
8:15-8:45 AM – Arrival for Spellers & Guests
8:30 AM – Judges’ Meeting
8:45 AM – Opening Assembly
9:00 AM – Classroom Round (Age Groups)
- Each contestant may have one guest for this round.
- Competition continues until the top four spellers in each age group are determined.
10:00 AM (tentative) – Spell-Off Finals - Finals begin with 3rd-4th grade, followed by 5th-6th, and concluding with 7th-8th.
11:00 AM (tentative) – Awards Presentation
The exact end time is difficult to predict, but we anticipate concluding by 11:30 AM.Spelling Bee Rules & Guidelines
- Students will have up to one minute to complete their spelling.
- They must begin spelling within 30 seconds (a prompt will be given at the 30-second mark).
- Students may ask for the word’s definition, a sentence, or to restart their spelling.
- If every student in a round misspells their word, no one will be eliminated.
- In the finals, a student must spell two words correctly in a row to win. If the finals extend beyond 25 minutes, this rule no longer applies.
