MEET THE FCS SOCCER COACHES

Varsity Co-Coach, Ryan Bensheimer
Ryan Bensheimer, ’93 FCS alum, began attending FCS the first year they offered a middle school in 1988 when his parents, Bill and Nancy moved from Indiana to teach at Faith. He attended Moody Bible Institute playing on their national championship soccer team as well as being regularly involved and practicing with the Chicago Fire MLS team in their inaugural year during 1997 and 1998 when they won the MLS Cup as well as the U.S. Open Cup. From 1997 to 2001 he returned to FCS and taught history, Bible, PE, and photography as well as became the JH Dean of Students over the next several years while coaching several junior high and high school sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, golf, and softball) and functioned as the JH athletic director (and HS assistant) at FCS. During those years he played soccer for Conway United in Wales during the summer months and attended the University of Wisconsin where he received master’s degrees in [Physical Education, Coaching, Recreation, and Athletics], Curriculum and Instruction, and Administration. He eventually left to become the administrator at Mt Zion Christian School in Lake Geneva from 2001-2005 in which time he also became a WIAA level 5 soccer official and continued coaching and playing at many levels. Following Mt Zion, he taught at Gateway Technical College from 2004-2008 while pursuing a Th.D. from the University of Wisconsin Madison and Covenant Theological Seminary in Classical and Ancient Near Eastern Studies. He went on to become the Head of Theology and eventually President of Covenant Theological Seminary from 2017-2024. Ryan has been an ordained minister since 1997 originally with the Greater Baptist Conference, has written several books, has a theology YouTube channel with over 100,000 subscribers and is the lead pastor of a newly planted (2024) church called TOV in lake Geneva (which is his third church plant including being part of the team that founded Lakeland community church in the Lake Geneva area and The River church in the Delavan area). He is currently involved with grassroots club soccer and continues to be a certified official. Ryan and his wife Krista home school their younger son Reid in 8th grade while Kade will attend FCS as a freshman and Will as a sophomore this year; their oldest son Ty graduated last year after attending 4 years of high school at FCS and being very involved in athletics. Ryan and Krista have also owned and operated Ideal Impressions Photography over the last 20 years. Krista and Ryan will co-coach FCS soccer this year and look forward to building a successful program over the next several years characterized by the traits of spiritual discipleship unto the Lord.

Varsity Co-Coach, Krista Bensheimer
Krista Bensheimer co-coaches with her husband Ryan. She also returned to our coaching staff in 2021 to assist in track. Prior to this, she coached volleyball and softball intermittently at FCS from 2002-2010. She played volleyball, basketball, and softball at Lakeside Lutheran High School and continued playing collegiate volleyball and softball at Wisconsin Lutheran College. She graduated with a degree in Communications and continued her schooling at UW Milwaukee, completing her Master’s in Journalism and Mass Communication. Coach Bensheimer continued to be involved in athletics after college: by coaching volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track, by teaching physical education classes, and by directing athletics at Mount Zion Christian School. Krista and her husband, Ryan, have four boys who are equally passionate about sports, and they have had the great joy of coaching their boys. Krista has been involved in coaching for over 20 years and continues to find sports an integral and fun part of growing physically, mentally, and spiritually stronger.

MEET THE FCS VOLLEYBALL COACHES

Varsity Head Coach, Melissa McPherson
Melissa McPherson aka Coach Moose serves as the Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of New Mexico before completing a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Science: Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Melissa brings more than 12 years of experience in the sports industry, working with athletes at every level—from youth sports to Olympic, Paralympic, and UFC athletes. She has a passion for developing athletes both on and off the court. A graduate of a small Christian school in New Mexico, Melissa competed in volleyball, basketball, and track & field throughout high school. During college, she returned to her alma mater to coach all three sports. She continued playing volleyball through intramural and sand volleyball leagues for many years and coached middle school volleyball from 2007–2011. Over the past several seasons, she has also stepped in to coach both middle school and high school volleyball at Faith whenever needed. In addition to coaching, Melissa serves as the Athletic Director at Faith Christian School. She and her husband are the pastors of Reach Church in East Troy, where they serve together while raising their two daughters and son. She is excited to coach the team God has brought together this season and looks forward to helping each player grow in her volleyball skills, confidence, character, and faith. Her desire is to create a Christ-centered team culture where athletes pursue excellence, encourage one another, and use their gifts to glorify God both on and off the court.
